Zeaxanthin is a natural yellow xanthophyll carotenoid found in maize, peppers, leafy greens and egg yolk, and it is one of the two macular pigments in the human eye. It is non-toxic at dietary levels and is widely consumed in food and supplements. It is not authorised as a standalone food colour in the EU/UK.
