Mixed Carotenes (E160AI): What It Is and Is It Safe?

Safe Colour

The natural sub-form of E160a, a mixture of carotenoid pigments (principally alpha- and beta-carotene) extracted from plant sources such as carrots, palm oil, and algae. Provides a yellow to orange colour. Considered safe and nutritionally beneficial as a Vitamin A precursor. Widely preferred over synthetic colours in clean-label products.
