Indanthrene Blue RS (E130): What It Is and Is It Safe?
Limited risk
Colour · Synthetic colour
Indanthrene Blue RS is a synthetic anthraquinone (vat) dye used mainly in textiles. The EU excluded it from the list of permitted food colours, so it is not authorised for food use. As a large, poorly soluble vat pigment it is minimally absorbed, and food-safety data are sparse.
